Recently, the Hollywood star and his partner in crime, Deborra Lee-Furness, splurged their fortunes on a west Chelsea penthouse smack bang on the top floor of an eye-catching building – a 57-unit building designed by Pritzker Prize-winning French architect Jean Nouvel.
The 4,675-square-foot East Hampton home that spreads across New York’s city line may be large and impressive, but it’s a significant downsize from anything we have seen from the actor before.
At the same time, with a rare standout feature like a 360-degree view of Manhattan, all the way up to the Empire State Building and down to the Statue of Liberty, it’s no wonder the duo went all in.
Inside, the $21 million penthouse has new floor-to-ceiling windows and an elegant polished marble staircase that leads to a 4,400 square foot private roof terrace. With three spiralling staircases designed to transport you to the three floors of a very minimalistic aesthetic, expect to encounter four bedrooms smoothed over in terrazzo flooring.
It may look like a white canvas on the inside, but on the walls, bright artworks are seen displaying vibrant pops of colour alongside sleek grey-stoned sculptures. Regarding the amenities, the couple, rumoured to be neighbours with Nicole Kidman, has access to a lap pool, fitness centre and a screening room.
Hugh Jackman made an excellent choice when choosing a penthouse in an area like West Chelsea, considered the contemporary art capital of New York and the world.
