Yacht Week: The Party Holiday for The Rich

December 19, 2023

Yacht Week: Sail, Party, and Break the Bank! Join the Exclusive Booze Cruise for the Rich and Fearless.

There’s no booze cruise as exclusive, or as expensive, as Yacht Week. Described as a floating festival, yacht week is a week-long sailing party around some of Europe’s most enticing coasts. People describe the experience as life-changing, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet like-minded travelers who are all there for the same exact reason: to have the time of their fucking lives.

The Business Side of Things

Yacht week not only does the party planning well, but it also seems to have the business side of things mastered. According to Forbes, their profits are nearing a million USD, when back in 2012 they were averaging $350,000. They operate, however, a rather tricky business. Operating a business that thrives on having a bunch of twenty-something-year-olds, drunk, in a foreign country, can’t be easy.

That being said, whoever is behind the marketing of Yacht Week deserves a standing ovation and a fat raise. With impeccable photographs and never-ending Instagram campaigns, they’re good at making yacht week the envy of every adventure party enthusiast. The premise is simple; good beaches, the sun, night-long DJ sets, and a crowd of young people (you can only take part if you are at least 20 years of age) soaking up the Mediterranean sun.

The Price Tag

The thing about this extravagant holiday, however, is that it is quite expensive – especially considering what is included (or better said, what isn’t). The approximately 1 thousand euro fee covers things like your skipper, accommodation, an integrated sound speaker (?), towels, bed linen, a dingy, and access to other events. Food, drinks, port fees, fuel, and transport from the airport are amongst the much heftier list of things that your 1 grand will not pay for.

With a price tag that could make your heart skip a beat, it’s no wonder Yacht Week has become the ultimate playground for the affluent crowd.
