Where To Stay In The French Riviera? – Cannes’ Walk Of Fame

May 17, 2022 Share

The Cannes Film Festival is back in its glory for 2022, returning to its usual dates running from May 17 to 28 at the convention centre Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

Hosted in the resort city of Cannes, on the French Riviera, the 75th annual edition is running from May 17 to 28, 2022, for the biggest event of the year: the Cannes Film Festival. But when celebrities and A-listers alike step onto the coastal shores of France, where do they stay?

Cannes is the third biggest city on French Riviera – after Nice and Antibes – counting over 73,000 inhabitants. While you may have heard that Cannes is the host city for the annual Cannes Film Festival, there is more to the town than film. Ever since the 19th century, it’s been associated with the rich and famous, its luxury hotels and restaurants and all the other events it hosts all around the year.

The weather and its incredible palm trees and sandy beaches make this place a must-visit destination all year round. Today film stars come to Cannes every May, where you can glimpse them on the red carpet attending star-studded premieres along with long, exhausting days of screenings, meetings, networking, and parties.

It is here where films from all over the world compete for the grand prize – the Palme d’Or – and visitors soak up a culturally rich week. And the glitzy vibes don’t just end there. Alongside its designer bars, couture shops and stretch of paradise beaches, luxury five-star palace hotels line the coast making for an unforgettable getaway.

Cannes, a dream destination and a great contemporary city with a special penchant for luxury and glamour, continues to show why it’s one of the best coastal destinations in the world. But for those attending the Cannes Film Festival this year or planning on visiting, a few celebrities favoured hotspots for you to sink your teeth into for a night to remember.

The Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez, situated on the Boulevard de la Croisette and overlooking the Bay of Cannes, is a long-time favourite for celebrities at Cannes Film Festival parties.

Even though last year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic, reports by Boat International say that Jake Gyllenhaal, Thierry Fremaux and Sienna Miller were all spotted on the hotel’s terrace. “Bruce Willis, Robert Pattinson and Eva Longoria are also rumoured to stay at the luxury hotel during the festival.”

The hotel also boasts one of the most extensive private beaches on the Croisette. With 410 luxury guestrooms, including 27 suites and one of the most oversized Penthouse Suites in Europe – the five-star rated hotel is definitely one for the list.

Of course, there is a multitude of others. Located just 30 minutes by tender from Cannes, many celebrities choose to visit the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, another glamorous five-star retreat. You have privileged access to the region’s many treasures here, including Antibes’ unique coastal path, St Paul de Vence, and the beautiful Lérins Islands.

Its guest book has over the years featured a string of A-list celebrities, including Clint Eastwood, Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Colin Firth and Johnny Depp, according to Boat International.

So if you want to follow in the footsteps of favourite stars – or should I say hand steps, head over to the Allee des Stars, where you will find 200 slabs bearing handprints of movie stars who have attended the festival in the past.

Overall, Cannes benefits from a beautiful location in the south of France along the French Riviera. The scenery along this stretch of France is stunning. The city of Cannes itself is an enchanting place with fantastic beaches and many things to see and do.

Why not dine in Michelin star La Palme d’Or or party in Le Bâoli – the location for The Sea Of Trees after-party during last year’s Cannes Film Festival?
