Enter: the Carlo IV Hotel. This historic five-star hotel is a magnificent neo-renaissance palace located in Senovane nám, right in the heart of Prague. After undergoing severe reconstruction work, she’s back in business.

Prague – a city fit for any novelette. No, seriously, the city in the Czech Republic is like stepping onto the Royal route. One famous luxury, the Carlo IV Hotel, has been under the knife since last year December, but after the bandages came off this month, the change in experience and, of course, its chic modern look has been the talk of the town. The hotel makes a big impression on the inside too.

Guests can explore the city’s famous landmarks and museums within ten minutes of the hotel, which also has one of the city’s largest spas. But before we get to the logistics, we need to dive deep into the building itself.

When wandering through the reaching archway, prepare to face a line of palm trees standing to attention. With its alabaster columns, friezes and grand coats of arms on the ceiling, this, plus the yellow and grey chessboard effect down below, really lures you in.

Enormous original chandeliers and polished marble hallways are interspersed throughout the public areas, and rooms are adorned with colourful, contemporary artworks by a changing roster of local artists.

The 152-room hotel offers guests either superior or premium rooms or the Presidential Suite to feel right at home. On the historical side of the building, expect to see what authentic neo-renaissance decor is all about.

After soaking up the entranceway, grab a drink from the 1890 Restaurant & Bar and make your way to the top. Relax in a marble bath and sink into ultra-comfortable mattresses with a glass of bubbly and smack your lips on some divine Czech staples.

When it comes to the almighty spa, “the 66-foot-long heated pool and two hot tubs haven’t gone away”, says Prague Hotel. It’s bigger and better. Head down to the vaults below and reinvigorate your body and soul with any of their massage therapies. Or hop into the sauna and let your stress evaporate.

The original Carlo IV Hotel is back in business. Even though the five-story building used to be a mortgage bank back in 1890 protecting the town’s prized possessions, like gold and jewels, today it is the perfect place for any A-lister, celebrity or top-notch gent to join in on the fun.
