The ‘All Of Me’ hitmaker, John Legend, has announced a one-off show at The Royal Albert Hall for next year.
THE 12-time Grammy winner has recently announced his special gig at London’s prestigious venue, The Royal Albert Hall on April 5, 2023. The show will be in support of his forthcoming album – the follow-up to 2020s ‘Bigger Love’ – which will release this autumn.
Legend has recently dropped “Dope” featuring rapper JID, the first single from his upcoming album. However, the title of his eighth studio album and the release date has not yet been revealed. Produced by Ian Kirkpatrick and Ryan Tedder, Legend co-wrote “Dope” with Charlie Puth, Tedder, and JID. In the song, Legend and JID sing, and rap, respectively, about their addiction to the women they love on the summery, feel-good track.
“She’s so dope/Wanna be her dope fiend/She showed me what dope mean,” Legend sings in the chorus. “She’s so dope/She can be my dope queen/We can make a dope scene, yeah.”
Talking about his new music, Legend said in a statement: “I’m so thrilled to be releasing new music. The past year or so has been so exciting for me creatively. I have been writing and collaborating with some of the most talented people in music, and we have some great new material to share with the world. ‘Dope’ is one of my favorites. I love the energy of the song.
“I loved collaborating with my gifted co-writers and producers, and JID is one of my favorite emerging artists in hip-hop. I hope the song can be a part of people’s soundtrack for this summer.”
The 31-year-old American, JID, real name Destin Choice Route, has totally nailed his part in the song. Speaking to Eddie Francis on Apple Music 1, Legend said: “He’s incredible, he’s such a gifted lyricist.
“He’s got such great charisma and great energy and we were looking for the perfect artist to join with me on this record. We were just listening to his body of work and thinking of what we could do on the track. We sent it to him and he loved the track and wanted to get on it and man… he murdered it.”
At the age of 43, Legend has accomplished an incredible amount of success in his career. He has garnered twelve Grammy Awards, an Oscar, a Golden Globe Award, a Tony Award, and an Emmy Award – making him the first African-American man to earn an EGOT.
Legend truly believes that all the success that he had gained to date is to make a difference in the world. He is headlining Northwell Health “Side By Side” benefit show today (May 29), at New York’s UBS Arena. He will be performing with Jason DeRulo at a gig to raise money for healthcare services for veterans and their families.
“Well, I think this is especially poignant doing this on Memorial Day weekend, celebrating our veterans. But not just celebrating them and telling them thank you, but actually showing them that we’re grateful to them for their service and for their sacrifice, by making sure that they have the resources that they need,” Legend said in a statement.
Besides that, he launched his critically acclaimed Las Vegas Residency entitled, “Love In Las Vegas” which began on April 22 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The next run of his “Love in Las Vegas” residency dates takes place on August 5-20 and October 14-29.
