Rage Against The Machine Reunion Tour Pushed Back Again

January 24, 2022 Share

ANOTHER day, another Covid cancellation. The long-awaited Rage Against The Machine reunion tour, perpetually postponed since 2020, has been pushed back for the third time.

The Public Service Announcement Tour from the politically charged supergroup was initially set to kick off in North America in March 2020, but will now begin on July 9, 2022, in East Troy, Wisconsin.

The band put out a statement on Twitter last week assuring fans that all tickets for the rescheduled dates will be honoured and refunds are made available for a 30-day window for those who can’t make the new dates. Run the Jewels are still scheduled to serve as a special guest on all nights apart from Ottawa and Quebec City.

“We will be back to you soon with the rerouted dates,” the band added. The North American leg is currently set to conclude with a five-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden in August.

Cancellation rumours became a reality when the band were not billed as headliners for Coachella 2022, a festival they were due to headline back in 2020 and 2021. Organisers of Boston Calling festival also announced last week that the band would not headline the festival in May 2022.

The legendary group were formed in 1991 and achieved huge commercial and critical success with their influential nu-metal sound and conscious lyricism up until 2000 when frontman Zack De la Rocha left the band.

The remaining three members have been involved in the supergroup Audioslave with Chris Cornell immediately after De la Rocha’s departure, then more recently in Prophets of Rage with Chuck D of Public Enemy and B Real of Cypress Hill.

Much to the elation of a dedicated fanbase, all members of the original Rage Against The Machine announced a reunion tour in 2019 and even had dates in the UK at Reading & Leeds Festival, only for Covid-19 to ruin the fun not once, not twice, but three times.
