DDW’s New Music Monday- August 22nd. Compiling a collection of this week’s biggest new music releases.
After last week’s stacked New Music Monday, DDW is back with a slightly more modest entry. It’s been an unfortunately slow week in the latter half of August, with many big names few and far between. Regardless, DDW has combined a short list of this week’s biggest new music releases and hottest tracks to date.
Offset – 54321 ft. Moneybagg Yo (prod. by Baby Keem)
First on our list of this week’s biggest new music releases is Kairi Cephus, better known as Offset. Last Friday, At midnight, the Migos member dropped his latest single “54321”. The release marks what is the rapper’s first official solo single in three years. Crazy! Where does the time go?
Whilst being Offset’s first solo release in three years, it remains far from collaborative efforts with Baby Keem unleashing his technical flair with the rapper having produced the track. And it’s certainly not a bad effort from Keem!
If anything, “54321” is an old-school stylistic return to form for Offset with the music video’s aesthetic perfectly encapsulating Offset whether it’s through his Balenciaga outfit or the fact he’s flowing R n B streams through a theme park, Offset’s officially back.
The single had actually been a piece of work Offset had teased fans with back in January. With the rapper posting screenshots from the music video and stories which teased snippets of the song. Now, ready to share the work. Offset has left fans in more anticipation after giving an update surrounding his newest solo album.
Speaking with Complex last week, Offset confirmed
“I’m going crazy on this, you know what I’m sayin’? Album is full of hits and full of smashes, Y’all gonna see how I’m coming. I’m coming crazy in all aspects of rapping. I ain’t playing no games. I got shit for the girls, too. I made sure I touched on some shit for the girls. … You get that support from the women, it’s gonna go next level.”

Aitch – Close to Home
The next entry on our list of this week’s biggest new music releases is the British rap sweetheart Aitch. Releasing his first ever solo album, exactly two years in the making. The Manchester-born cheeky chap Aitch is back with a more refined and arguably mature take on his infamous blend of rap and dance that’s been dominating the charts scene as well as the club and underground scene.
Known for his honesty and humble personality, Aitch has been doing wonders in the music scene, not only through his own and collaborative success but also through his philanthropy. With the 22-year-old becoming a voice for the younger generation.
After two long years of multiple collaborative fleets and philanthropic gestures, Aitch’s debut album is here, Close to Home. A debut album which reinstates Aitch’s place in the mainstream music scene. Whether it’s the rapper’s maturity that echoes throughout or the honest retrospective lyrics that tease the darker side of Aitch’s psyche.
Close to Home perfectly encapsulates the modern UK rap scene through its cocksure motifs and experimental dance and hip hop undertones. Catchy and unafraid to be ugly in places, Aitch’s Close to Home, is a stark and cheeky debut from an even cheekier chap.
