Fresh off the block, the man with 1000 faces, Johnny Depp, shocked the world with his hidden talent when his artworks in Friends & Heroes sold for $3.6 million in a UK gallery hours after announcing it.

There is no denying that Johnny Depp is a man of many talents. But things turned when the world discovered that an artist of note was underneath the mask of many characters. Recently he debuted his very own collection to the Castle Fine Art in London to find out hours later that all of his 780 prints had sold out.

The critically acclaimed actor, musician and artist exhibited his work online as a collection ensemble entitled Friends & Heroes. The idea behind his series of close-up portraits featured the likes of his most treasured idols and friends, like Bob Dylan, Elizabeth Taylor, Al Pacino and Keith Richards. “My paintings surrounded my life as a child, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves,” shares Depp.

Each photographic image has been plundered back to its original state before Depp re-works the pieces and applies several mixed media on top by freehand drawing or painting. With love for Andy Warhol, Pop and Street Art, his works are colourful, abstract and overlaid with energy.

“The result is a series of iconic images of media figures that have moved beyond the impersonal graphic simplicity of Pop Art. It’s Pop Art with feeling,” shares Castle Fine Art.

Depp has always had a solid connection to Fine Art. Even before the acting world launched his fame, he would spend his downtime painting away. As time passed, he became an advent collector of outstanding merit with some of the world’s coveted names in his private collection.

Art was Depp’s passion “before acting, and before music,” the gallery said.

From Basquiat to Banksy, his portfolio holds an impressive number. But it doesn’t end here. Johnny Depp has also launched an NFT collection entitled; Never Fear Truth which plays an ode to his recent court battle against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Fear not; you definitely won’t see any reference to the defamation case, but this will instead house even more of his Friends & Heroes series. This project isn’t for everyone. With a high 0.6 mint price ($1700) and an 11,111 supply, it may only appeal to those with a larger pocket but could poise an opportunity for those willing to hold to take advantage of this drop.
