Fans will be able to Shazam a song and instantly see when and where the artist is playing their next show.

Apple’s music discovery app Shazam has added a new feature that allows users to peruse that artist’s nearby shows and concerts. Users can also explore an artist’s new Shazam page to learn more about tour dates, times, and locations of upcoming events for that artist, taking place entirely within the app.

The app now has over 225 million monthly active users who discover over one billion songs per month, and since the beginning of its existence, Shazam has provided users with over 50 billion song recommendations.

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music and Beats said: “Shazam has a long history of innovation in music discovery and connecting artists and fans. With the re-emergence of live music, we’re excited to give Shazam users access to concerts and bring even more discoverability to artists.”

The burgeoning popularity of the app has led to developers wanting to enhance the platform, thus creating this new concert discovery feature. The move is also in line with the comeback of live music, with the timing specifically geared towards the approaching summer months.

High profile event recommendation and artist discovery platform Bandsintown are powering the app’s new feature. The concert pages are available on the Shazam iOS and Android apps, as well as Shazam.com.

Artists can make their information available to Shazam via Bandsintown for Artists. They also have access to unique insights with Apple Music and Shazam audience insights on Apple Music for Artists.

“As live music returns, we’re on a mission to help artists get more visibility for their live shows,” said Fabrice Sergent, Managing Partner of Bandsintown. “Pent-up demand from fans eager to go back to concerts is being met by an unprecedented level of live shows from artists on tour.”

As reported by Digital Music News, there are already over half a million artists and music professionals who regularly use Bandsintown to manage their live performances. The all-in-one platform allows musicians to build an audience, drive sales, develop and nurture a relationship with their fans, and direct their marketing towards those fans.
