January 9, 2022 Share

Creative thinking from the inner soul of a visual artist can create a noticeable change in society. The richest painters in the world have talents that embrace this.

Artists create, inspire, and defy the boundaries of normative art. Some would agree that being an artist is not a lucrative job. Lucky are those few famous artists who have amassed a huge amount of cash through their artwork.

The majority of the artists are criticized for wasting their time in the field and end up living below the poverty line. However, these painters have been enjoying their jobs and earning loads of money through their creativity.

With more and more fans of art, artists continue to lead wealthy lives.

Just who are the richest among them?

One of the richest painters is Banksy

– Net worth: $50 million
– Age: 48

Banksy hardly needs an introduction which is ironic because no one knows who he is. He has moved from stencil-free and graffiti artist to selling his pieces at major auction houses for millions.

The world’s richest painters include Bridget Riley, the female illusionist

– Net worth: $85 million
– Age: 90

Bridget Riley rose to prominence in London in the 1960s with her bold vision for a new language of painting based upon repeated geometric forms. Since then, she has become one of the leading artists of her generation.

Her repetitive clean lines pop out like a magic eye picture and then draw you in. It is a major illusion. The 1966 work called Untitled Diagonal Curve was recently sold at Christie’s London for $5.7 million.

One of the richest artists is of course Jeff Koons

Jeff Koons is one of the most famous contemporary artists in the world. With his playful mind, he uses the essence of everyday objects and transforms them into a world of wonder.

He wasn’t always a high roller and started like many other artists struggling to keep his head afloat. His breakthrough piece called Orange, a giant replica of a balloon dog elevated his career to what it is today.

From reflective surfaces like pots and pans to balloons, mirrors, porcelain,  jewels, crystals, flowers and bubbles, this contemporary pop artist’s extremely polished synthetic timeless art pieces is one of the most well-known artists to date.

Even though this was a sculpture piece, in 2019, his work entitled Rabbit sold at Christie’s for $91 million.

Meet the legendary Damien Hirst

Before becoming an artist, Damien Hirst could be described as an art critic and entrepreneur. Much of his art plays on other artists’ work and design. His take on pop iconic references earned him a fortune.

His polka dots and animal hyde have never been more appalling or appealing. He is considered the United Kingdom’s richest living artist for a reason.

The richest painters in 2022 are led by John Currin

John Currin’s paintings contain provocative, sexual and social scenes, most of which are satirical.  What is unusual is that although only born in 1962, Currin’s painting technique is similar to the skills of the Old Masters with a Renaissance style. It is a stark contrast to the contemporary fashion and scenery in the pictures.

Three of his most famous works are Hot Pants, Honeymoon Nude, and Nude on a Table.

Painting is quite possibly the most beautiful expression on the planet. There are numerous art lovers in all aspects of the world; that is why we have so many artists in each country.
