Point Lechuza in Malibu is among Koenig’s very last designs, and though it was completed posthumously by architect James Tyler in 2012, it was built to Koenig’s specifications and final blueprints. Vast glass panes capture vistas across the Pacific and the Californian property’s landscaped gardens, including a swimming pool and spa and a nifty retractable staircase that provides access to the beach below. Polished concrete floors, exposed beams, and corrugated steel are the main visual attractions, while walls are neutral to not distract from the azure blues and lush greens beyond the beach house’s glass balconies.
