Gucci brought a whole new meaning to the walk of fame. The iconic €7.4bn-revenue fashion house shut down a block of Hollywood Boulevard on Tuesday night in LA for their Gucci ‘Love Parade’ show.
This was right during rush hour – a perfect time to make a statement. When it came to the audience, there was no shortage of A-listers. The streets were filled with stars and celebrities alike to watch the public spectacle take place.
Though Gucci announced last May that it would step away from the fashion calendar and cut down from five shows a year to two, the untraditional schedule didn’t stop the brand from amassing a star-studded crowd.
Lizzo, Tracee Ellis Ross, Billie Eilish, Gabrielle Union and Tyler The Creator were among the celebrities in attendance. Hollywood quite literally took the runway as well as actors Jeremy Pope, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jared Leto and Macaulay Culkin were among the cast.
Highlights from the show included Mockonicy Colgan rocking a colourful t-shirt and caramel coloured paints while long time Gucci ambassador, Jered Leto, also hit the runway in an oversized blazer and lace-up pants.
At the presentation’s close, models strutted in a single-file line wrap-up in light of a more fitting, parade-style exit, a sea of jewel tones and sparkle. What made the event feel even more like a “love parade” was the crowd of bystanders huddled behind the runways bordering gates, many able to enjoy the show from the side.
Just like that, Gucci had brought Hollywood back to life.
However, this isn’t the first time that Gucci has successfully pulled off a pop-up show. Just recently all eyes were on Lady Gaga as the actress hit the red carpet in a show-stopping purple Gucci gown at the “House of Gucci” London premiere on Tuesday.
Gracing the red carpet at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square were Jared Leto, Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, and more—all of whom dressed in fits that didn’t disappoint.
Alessandro Michele, who is the current Creative Director of Gucci, designed the majority of the looks at the event. Along with her billowing purple number, Lady Gaga wore thigh-high fishnets and black leather platform heels. She plays Patrizia Reggiani, the wife of Maurizio Gucci, who she was convicted of assassinating in 1995.
All that glitters was gold lamé when it came to Salma Hayek, who wore a gilded pleated frock from the Italian fashion house. Hayek, who is married to François-Henri Pinault, the CEO of Gucci’s parent company Kering, plays Pina Auriemma in the film.
When it came to menswear, Jared Leto wore a cerulean blue velvet suit, cut sharply at the shoulder, with a shawl lapel by the brand.
He was dressed up with a crystal-embellished anatomical heart bag, and a white manicure to match his boots.
Adam Driver, the much-loved star, who plays the co-lead as Maurizio Gucci, looked more bank clerk than Hollywood sensation in a plain navy Burberry suit with a white shirt and grey tie.
The “House of Gucci” is set for release on 24 November 2021 and is aimed at telling the incredible story of a 2021 American biographical crime drama film directed by Ridley Scott.
It is based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden.
